So you are curious to learn more about us? Well, this is my family, including my mom and dad. I chose this photo because it is the most recent as of the weekend of September 8, 2014. We were at my sister's home celebrating my dad's 75th birthday! I also chose this photo because my mom also sells on TpT, and I am so very proud of her! Her hard work and TpT have allowed her to finally retire after 50? years of daycare! You can peek at her shop HERE. It has been such a blessing to both of my parents! See...don't they look happy? (Yes, folks, that is an Iowa corn field!)
Back to the first photo, I am the short one in front. It didn't take long for my three daughters (and 10 nieces and nephews) to pass me up! I have a long history of doing many different things - ask my family, I love change! I have a teaching degree for elementary education, K-12 special education, a master's degree in special education consultation and a special education director's endorsement. Yep, that is a lot of years in the classroom. I also taught in many different areas and started many special programs, including a private preschool when my girls were young. I primarily taught special education in grades 7-12 and also an alternative education school. That was by far my most challenging, yet, my most rewarding! All while this was happening, I was always pursuing an additional passion of entrepreneurship. I guess it all began when I was about four years old selling fool's gold rocks to the neighbors! When my girls were young, I really wanted to stay home with them, so I started a private preschool and also began a career selling hand painted items on ebay. I actually sold lots of different things on ebay, but hand painted items were most profitable. I've had an etsy story since the beginning of time, my own websites, and a TpT store since its creation as well. In 2012, I quit my full time job as a coordinator for PK-12 special education to pursue my own business full time. I loved my job with the schools, but I also loved having my own business. We downsized, listened to God (amazing all the little things He aligned to make this happen) and took a huge leap of faith. It has truly been a blessing.
So, that leaves one more person left in the photo...my hubby. After 23 years in the banking industry, he recently "retired" from banking to join me in my online endeavors. Who could have ever dreamed this would happen? Not us, that is for sure. We felt this was the best move to prioritize our marriage, our family and our commitment to our faith - not necessarily in that order ;) We now have two desks and four monitors side by side in a 9' x 12' room. My daughter commented that it looks like an FBI room...personally I think we are "A." (If you don't know what that means, you must not watch PLL)
As for my daughters, I am a little biased, but I think they are the most amazing young women I've ever met. They have really plugged in to a great church in town and are trying to live their lives for Jesus. What more could a mom want?
Thanks for visiting with me. Feel free to ask any questions or leave comments! We truly appreciate all of our followers. We couldn't do this without you and all the great things you do for kids on a daily basis. I know it isn't an easy task and doesn't allow for feedback and appreciation nearly enough. Keep up the great work!
